Have you ever thought to yourself how grateful and happy you were to be able to wake up each day in the comfort of your own home? While knowing you had the opportunity to accomplish your goals, and be given the freedom to achieve the feeling of success we all strive for. I believe it to be the most admirable trait that makes America the greatest Nation to live in. Fortunately, thanks to the courage and bravery of men like Marcus Luttrell, Michael Murphy, Danny Dietz, and Matthew Axelson the satisfaction of living freely and confidently is possible for us. Their heroic actions are taken for granted by most Americans, but for those in this nation like myself; that choose to work hard and make something out of yourself, their lives are forever in my memory and will be remembered for their selfless services to America. For that is why they fight for this country, it's about the man next to you and your friends and family, to fight for something you believe in and so young Americans like ourselves take advantage and work hard to make this world a greater place to live in.

If you’re like myself and are forever thankful for everything the soldiers of our military provide for this country, and wish to experience what these heroes sacrifice for our country then the film Lone Survivor is an absolute must see. It not only grants you a firsthand look inside a U.S Navy SEAL team, which depicts the meaning of what it takes to become a SEAL. As a result, the reason behind why we only endure the most dedicated and professional men and women to fight in our wars is displayed throughout the entire film. The significance of this motion picture film is displayed by the authentic work ethic of the cast and the raw experience you get when watching the true story play out, realizing that this actua happened and men these men died for their country.

The true story of United States Navy SEAL Team 10 is relived through the man who experienced the entire thing. Marcus Luttrell is the focal point of the action packed film Lone Survivor. It was 2005, in Afghanistan, the mission code-named Operation Redwing was tasked with Navy SEALs Marcus Luttrell (Mark Wahlberg), Michael Murphy (Taylor Kitsch), Danny Dietz (Emile Hirsch) and Matthew "Axe" Axelson (Ben Foster). They were deployed on a mission for surveillance and assigned to take out Taliban leader Ahmad Shah. Although their mission was short lived once spotted by goatherds (Afghan villagers), Luttrell and his team decided not to kill them; a choice that will haunt Luttrell the rest of his life. Due to one of the Afghans alerting a group of Taliban fighters to the invading SEALs, a terrible battle ensues, in which the SEALs find themselves hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned.

In the film, Lone Survivor, Mark Wahlberg plays the heroic United States Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell. The authentic nature is shown in the thrilling true story that Mark is tasked with playing in the film. In a review of the book, James Roberts states “In Lone Survivor, Luttrell has written a riveting account of his experiences” (19). The review of the book “Lone Survivor” brings to life the heroics of Navy SEAL recipient Marcus Luttrell in his mission in Afghanistan that left only him standing. Describing Luttrell’s upbringing and SEAL training is just as compelling and aspiring as the portrayal of the battle and aftermath that Mark Wahlberg plays in the film that leaves the Navy SEAL broken and bloodied. This article portrays the physical and mental strength that the Navy SEALs are forced to endure if they ever wish to become a part of the toughest military branch, the Special Forces. The most inspiring aspect of this is how true everything included is, due to the firsthand experience and storytelling of the man who lived it. Marcus Luttrell is fortunately able to still be alive to tell the incredible story of the tragedy and heroism he endured by having his story relived through the film.
